The new Garden of Remembrance at East Princes St Gardens in Edinburgh opened this November. Stewarts Turf played its part, supplying turf for the poignant site situated next to the Scott Monument in the heart of the Scottish capital.
Around 60 veterans were joined by military chiefs, emergency service personnel and polititicians for the ceremony. The Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Rt Hon Donald Wilson, and veterans minister Keith Brown MSP were among the guests.
Members of the public watched as the veterans paid tribute to their fallen colleagues laying wreaths, poppies and wooden crosses.
Stewarts Turf was honoured to contribute to the event supplying Lawna turf to ensure the Garden of Remembrance looked at its best for the opening.
Mr Wilson emphasised the importance of a space to remember the sacrifices so many made. “It is a place to pay respects to the lives that have been lost and sacrifices made by so many courageous men and women. I urge Edinburgh residents and visitors, workers and commuters, to please pay a visit... make a donation for poppies or crosses or to simply take a quiet moment to reflect.”
